2008-2013 Suzuki King Quad 750 Copperhead® ECU

New product

The Copperhead® ECU is a plug and play replacement (not a piggyback solution) for the stock ECU in the Suzuki King Quad 750. It controls the timing and fuel, and our high energy and repetitive fire ignition allows for crisper throttle response, reduced fuel consumption, while giving substantial power gains.

More info

The Copperhead® ECU provides a typical 21% power increase from idle to red-line (WOT), and a part throttle power increase of up to 40% over stock. In addition, the top speed limiter has been increased. The ECU also allows for the fuel to be adjusted for aftermarket camshafts and pipes (requires optional programmer interface). Comes complete with the Copperhead® ECU and a machine specific adapter harness containing the EFI specific electronics and mating connectors for that model.

For increased power, the injector from the Suzuki M109R Boulevard Cruiser can be installed (Suzuki SKU 15710-48G00). This injector has 12-nozzle holes to give substantially better atomization. This results in approximately 25% more part throttle power over the stock injector.

NOTE: Due to it's larger size, some machines may have harder starting, and more bottom end lag. We recommend purchasing our programming interface to adjust the maps to address these issues.

Features:

  • Repetitive fire ignition delivers hotter spark with longer spark duration for maximum power and virtually eliminates misfires, while giving you easy starts and crisp throttle response. Preloaded performance map allows the machine to run cooler, produce more horsepower and more torque, while minimizing fuel consumption.
  • Shipped with machine specific harness that plugs directly into factory wiring harness. Toggle switch on the unit allows user to switch between two preloaded setups.
  • Default preloaded map keeps factory limiters (reverse / speed) and similar power when the toggle switch is in position #1. When the toggle switch is in position #2, all limiters are disabled, and the timing is optimized for maximum power on 87 octane fuel. Setups and maps can be changed and optimized for different fuel grades via our programming interfaces (sold separately).

2009 King Quad 750 Copperhead

I just installed the Velocity Devices (VDI) Copperhead and did some preliminary testing. My initial reactions are all very positive . My King Quad starts easily, idles better than with the stock ECU and definitely has more low end power. Unfortunately, I also changed my tires at the same time. Although I kept the exact same size, the replacement STI Black Diamonds are much taller. The increased size is changing my effective gear ratio. Even with the taller tires and my limited testing, I can still feel the increased performance from the VDI unit. I did a quick blip of the throttle and the front end lifted with ease. No pulling on the handlebars at all and no throwing my weight backward.

I should add that my King Quad is fully dressed. I have a front and back box and a winch. My front box has two small coolers and the rear box is packed with gear. I also have a full three gallon gas can onboard. I would estimate that with the gear plus my 215 pounds, the total weight is around 1020 pounds.

I wonder what the Copperhead would do on a stripped down machine with a lighter driver?

Weather permitting, I am headed to the trails to perform some further testing on 11/10- 11/12. I will post those results also.

Installation was a breeze. The instructions are straightforward. The unit is well built and definitely delivers a power increase .
