************************************************************************************ ************************************************************************************ ************************************************************************************ NOTE: The latest files can be found at http://www.velocitydevices.com. Select your machine from the Products menu. What you need to do the download: 1) Copperhead EFI application Rev. 4.2.3 or greater. (the Copperhead application that will run on your PC). 2) One firmware file for your machine (i.e. "2005+_KQ700_Rev6.3.VDI"). The firmware has a .VDI extension. 3) ECU map file (i.e. "KQ700 OEM_91_Rev6.3_20130801.efi"). The map has a .EFI extension. The maps are labeled based on machine, and settings in the two toggle switch positions. I.E. the map above is for the King Quad 700, has OEM (stock) type settings (i.e. limiters) in toggle switch #1 setting, and full performance for 91 octane fuel with no limiters in toggle switch #2 position. *NOTE: Right click on the files, and select "Save Target As". This will eliminate any issues with Windows trying to open the files. If you have problems, place your mouse pointer over the file, hold the left button, and drag the file to the desktop. You should now be able to see the file through the Copperhead application. *NOTE: You can ONLY open the map and firmware files with the CopperheadEFI application. Double-clicking on the map or firmware files will result in a Windows error. ************************************************************************************ ************************************************************************************ ************************************************************************************ APPLICATION INSTALLATION: 1) Double click on the CopperheadEFI folder, and then double click on the CopperheadEFI Install_4.2.3.exe to install the application. Follow through the installation. If you get a warning that the "Publisher of this software could not be verified", click "allow" to allow the installation to continue. Once the application is installed, it can be run by clicking on the "Start Button" in the bottom left corner of the screen, go to "All Programs", and click on the "Velocity Devices Inc" folder, and then the "CopperheadEFI" to run the application. ************************************************************************************ FIRMWARE UPGRADE: 2) Connect the USB cable to the USB interface and to the computer. Your PC should automatically install the necessary drivers. 3) Connect the Live Tuner or USB Memory Interface to the ECU (you'll need the ECU to be in the machine and connected to the PC through the interface cable for this download). 4) Turn on the key, run the CopperheadEFI application, and then click either the Memory Pod or Live Tuner heading, then on "Write ECU Firmware", Browse for the desired firmware file (i.e. version 6.3). There are about 110 pages to be written. 5) Once the PC indicates it is complete, turn off the key, and unplug the interface. ************************************************************************************ MAP UPGRADE: 6) Run the Copperhead EFI application on the computer. Connect the USB interface to the PC only. 7) Do a file, open, and browse for the desired map file. (i.e. "KQ700 OEM_91_Rev6.3_20130801.efi") then click either the Memory Pod or Live Tuner heading, then "Write Map", to save it in the USB interface. 8) Unplug the USB interface from the PC, and plug it into the ECU, and turn on the key. The status light will slowly flash. In 2-30 seconds the status LED on the ECU will turn on solid. If very little is different between the new and old maps, the light will come on very quickly. Turn off the key, and unplug the interface. ************************************************************************************ The ATV is now ready to be ridden. To change settings in the ECU, you only need to run steps 6-8, above. ************************************************************************************
